NEW YORK’S ABORTION ‘BARBARISM’ HAVING RIPPLE EFFECT

New York’s new abortion law, which effectively allows the procedure until birth, already is having impact.

A prosecutor dropped one of the charges that had been brought against a man suspected of stabbing and killing a pregnant woman in Queens on Feb. 3, noted the American Center for Law and Justice.

“We told you that New York’s barbaric abortion law would have real life (and death) consequences. Unfortunately, we’re already seeing the first evidence of that,” the organization, which has demanded from the state information about the abortion lobby’s influence on the law, said ACLJ.

After the law was signed Jan. 22 by Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Virginia tried to pass a similar law. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam drew attention when, in defense of the bill, he advocated infanticide.

ACLJ said that in the Queens case, an “unspeakably savage crime that’s hard to even comprehend, let alone describe, will now go unpunished.”

“A man attacked his pregnant girlfriend in New York, reportedly dragging her out into the public vestibule of their apartment building and stabbing her repeatedly in the stomach as neighbors say she pled for the life of her unborn baby,” ACLJ said.

“This brutal murder of Jennifer Irigoyen, a real estate agent, fitness instructor, and mother to another young child, was captured on surveillance camera. Neighbors say they rushed out to help her after the assailant fled, and say she gasped for breath as they asked who attacked her.”

Irigoyen was five months pregnant when she died.

The New York Post reported the suspected killer targeted the 35-year-old woman’s stomach.

“The victim – a classically trained pianist who sold luxury homes and also worked as a professional Latin ballroom dancer and Zumba instructor – was stabbed several times in her neck and the left side of her stomach, police sources said,” according to the report.

Her boyfriend, Anthony Hobson, surrendered shortly later to authorities and was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, illegal abortion and criminal possession of a weapon.

District Attorney Richard Brown called it a “heinous crime,” ACLJ said.

“A woman was brutally stabbed – killing her and the unborn child. The defendant is alleged to have shown no mercy and no regard for human life when he repeatedly and purposely plunged a knife into this expectant mother’s abdomen, torso and neck. The defendant, now in custody, faces spending the rest of his days locked behind bars.

“Yet a few days later, one of the charges had to be dropped,” ACLJ said. “The New York District Attorney’s office announced that the killer can no longer be charged with killing the unborn child.”

The charge was dropped because the new abortion law “stripped the crime from the state penal code.”

ACLJ said Hobson still faces other charges, but “the vicious stabbing of an unborn baby to death will not be listed among his offenses, whatever the judge’s ruling.”

The legal group said pro-abortion legislators “don’t seem to grasp that their decisions have consequences.”

“This innocent woman deserved to live. Her oldest child deserved a mother. Her unborn baby deserved a chance at life.”
